Graduates

EDWIN CARBAJAL

After graduating from Princeton University, I completed a post-baccalaureate at the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Bethesda, MD where I worked to find ways of diagnosing a parasitic infection called neurocysticercosis which is caused by a tapeworm. I have now started a 2-year research fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) in NYC before going for my PhD. At Mount Sinai, I work in a microbiology lab that investigates influenza and dengue viruses. In my free time, I like to read, visit my family in the Bronx, and frequent the many museums available in NYC. I also mentor students through a program for high school students called The Grade, which encourages young men to develop the skills and attitudes they will need for future life challenges. The program teaches them to be men of character who are ready for responsibility in professional work, responsible citizenship, and friendship with family, colleagues, neighbors, and God.
