Meet Our Team
Julie Fowler, Executive Director
A staunch advocate for youth and equity, Julie joined the A Better Chance of Wilton board of directors in 2024. She was hired as Executive Director in June of 2025. Her vision, leadership and extensive experience with youth and programming aims to propel the organization forward as it aligns with the mission of A Better Chance of Wilton. In her role, she oversees and is supportive in all aspects of the organization—including fundraising, operations, board engagement, and community outreach.
In addition to joining A Better Chance of Wilton as our first-ever Executive Director, Julie serves as the Youth Director at Wilton Presbyterian Church where she has nurtured the lives of children through leadership and program development for the last nine years. She began her career in Forensic Social Work at Lawyers for Children, Inc., a nonprofit organization in New York City advocating for youth in foster care where she worked for 11 years.
Julie holds a Master of Science in Social Work from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. A long time Wilton Resident, Julie lives with her husband and two sons. She is active within her community and enjoys volunteering, traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Yanny Garcia, Resident Director
As Resident Director, Yanny serves as leader and mentor for the Scholars within the home while encouraging and embracing all aspects of student life. She is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Scholars and management of the A Better Chance of Wilton house.
Yanny Garcia joined the A Better Chance of Wilton team in August 2025. A former ABC of Wilton Scholar herself, Yanny understands and acknowledges the need to create a space for Scholars to feel seen and valued. She walks alongside the Scholars in their journey during their academic and community immersion here in Wilton appreciating their individuality while providing activities that bring them together. She exudes warmth and patience while maintaining high standards of conduct and achievement through positive house culture. Yanny combines her love for mentorship, community building and leadership to help the Scholars feel both supported and empowered.
Yanny enjoys being a mother to her 3 year old daughter, cooking, journaling, yoga and meditation, being outdoors and finding creative outlets through arts and crafts.
Sarah Boatwalla, Academic Coordinator / House Chef
Sarah is a graduate of Wilton High School and Dickinson College. She joined the A Better Chance of Wilton Board of Directors in 2024 identifying summer programs with which to enrich and enhance Scholar experience.
She values education, and enjoys connecting with students, supporting them as they grow with confidence and discover their full potential. Sarah’s commitment to Scholar success is reflective in her dedication to their academic trajectory. She works closely with each Scholar refining executive functioning, study skills and course comprehension through evening tutorial sessions.
Sarah also enjoys preparing well balanced, tasty meals for the girls during the week. She is inclusive and varied in her menus often incorporating special menus for celebrations and observed holidays.
Sarah lives in Wilton with her husband, Cyrus, her boys, Liam and Spencer, and her dog, Fiji.
Margret Greene, Social Worker
Margret is a Licensed Master of Social Work clinician with a counseling practice in Wilton. She is employed as a medical social worker at Yale Hospital and has more than 25 years of experience in the field, working with adolescents and adults. She earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado Boulder, in 1992, with a focus on Sociology, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 1997 from the University of Denver. She began her career as a case manager in community corrections and since that time, she has worked with Family and Children’s Agency, the Salvation Army, Wilton Social Services, Au Pair in America, and the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. She also has extensive experience coordinating groups, volunteer programs, and fundraising events. Margret has been married for more than 30 years and her four children have attended the Wilton public schools.
