Welcome, Prospective Scholars and Parents!

For almost 30 years, A Better Chance of Wilton has helped its bright, driven Scholars achieve great things on their educational and personal journeys.  We are committed as we walk alongside them helping to pave a path for success. We believe that while the Scholars reflect determination and high achieving standards, what sets A Better Chance of Wilton apart is the inclusion into an immediate family.

Living together at the ABC House with our Resident Director, a former ABC of Wilton Scholar herself, and spending time with their host families, provide our Scholars with a sense of belonging and confidence.  ABC of Wilton serves as a caring foundation to help prepare them for success in college and in life. This sets ABC of Wilton apart. We invite you to learn more about the extraordinary opportunities we have to offer for you and your family. 

Eligibility Requirements

You are eligible to apply if you:

  • Are able to identify as a person of color at noted here: Black/African American, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, or Multiracial
  • Are female: ABC of Wilton is a girls-only program
  • Are a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  • Are currently in grade 8
  • Consistently perform at or above grade level in Math and English
  • Have an overall academic average of a B+ or better
  • Rank in the top ten percent of their class
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, both in and outside of school
  • Demonstrate leadership potential in school or through activities outside of school
  • Receive good teacher recommendations
  • Are of upstanding character
  • Thrive in a group environment
  • Are eager to be part of the Wilton community and live at ABC House

Additional Requirements

Report Card:
Families will need to submit a current year/most recently issued report card

Transcript:
A transcript showing the student’s grade issued for the previous year Test Scores: SSAT or ISEE test scores

Proof of Income:
Families will need to submit one of the following:

  • The first two pages of all 1040 forms for the family’s most recent tax returns
  • Any employer-issued W2s
  • Any 1099s for miscellaneous income

Recommendations:
Each student must submit a letter of recommendation from her guidance counselor, Math and English language teachers.
